David E. Jones - Attorney Biography

A Personal Profile
Scales of Justice

General Background

A native of Kansas, I have been living and practicing law in Texas for over 40 years. I enjoy being out at our family place in the Flint Hills of Kansas, traveling, hiking and skiing. View Gallery. My professional life has been spent representing ordinary people in their claims and lawsuits against individual wrongdoers, large corporations, governmental entities and insurance companies. I’ve always sought to responsibly utilize the civil justice system to hold wrongdoers accountable, fight injustice, provide fair compensation to my clients and provide a deterrent to future wrongdoing.

Personal Background

I’ve been fortunate, throughout my life to have always had the support of family and friends. I enjoy many activities outside of work, including: travel, skiing, and working on the family farm/ranch in Kansas. In the last few years, I’ve also made time to volunteer with various good government organizations, working on voting rights issues, redistricting and to promote reform of campaign financing laws.

College

University of Texas at Austin (B.A.) (1976)

I started working and fighting for the rights of ordinary people and handling consumer law issues while still a student at the University of Texas at Austin, where I was the Co-Chair of the Texas Public Interest Research Group (TexPIRG). At TexPIRG I had the opportunity to help people with consumer complaints, acting as a public advocate and even lobbying for consumer issues in the Texas Legislature.

Experience

After law school my first job was with a large law firm in Dallas, representing personal injury plaintiffs. After several years, I left that firm and became a shareholder in another law firm with several other lawyers where I continued with a personal injury and civil trial practice for many years, primarily engaged in litigation and trial on behalf of victims of negligence, product defects and medical malpractice.

Personal Injury Trial Lawyer – For the Plaintiff.
My past professional experience handling personal injury cases is broad in scope and complexity: from simple automobile accident cases to complex product liability litigation; from cases involving relatively minor physical injuries to many cases involving catastrophic injury and wrongful death. They include: automobile/truck defect and accident cases, construction accident cases, medical malpractice cases, premises defect lawsuits, third-party criminal liability cases, governmental liability/tort claims, 18 wheeler truck collision cases – and many others. Past cases have resulted in significant verdicts or settlements for the firm’s clients.

I have been licensed by the State Bar of Texas for the general practice of law in Texas since 1980. I’ve been licensed in the Federal Courts since 1981. I was Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization for thirty (30) years, from 1992 until 2022.
